TN: Man Attempts to Stop Fight, is Assaulted, Shoots Attacker

Deadrick Esaw, 26, told police he shot Ceron Coleman, 37, in self defense shortly after 3 p.m. in the 200 block of Commerce Street.

Coleman, along with family and friends, left Brugada Bar when a friend of Esaw approached the group, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department. An altercation erupted between the groups, which led to Coleman punching Esaw as he attempted to break up the fight.

Esaw fell to the ground and Coleman attempted to continue assaulting him, according to police. Esaw drew his gun and shot Coleman in the torso. Coleman later died at Vanderbilt University Medical
