Davis says Jones broke the front door of the home on Jones Lane at about noon Monday and made threats of harm to family members. He left the home momentarily and retrieved a steel pipe jack handle from his vehicle in the driveway and returned to the front door a second time, threatening and demanding money. Family members described him as being enraged and belligerent and possibly on some type of illegal drug. He tried to enter the home again but a family member fired one shot from a shotgun in order to protect the residents from harm. Jones died at the scene. Justice of the Peace Chris Ingram has ordered an autopsy.
