MO: Armed 65-Year-Old Woman Shoots Intruder

She and her 19-year-old son went outside after hearing the alarm sounding on her detached garage. She saw a man rummaging through a pile of bags, and she pulled a handgun and yelled at the man to get out of the garage, police say. He refused and kept rummaging through the bags.

She repeatedly yelled at him to leave, police say, and the man stopped what he was doing and turned toward the woman.

"Fearing the suspect was coming toward her," police say, the woman fired a shot. That caused the burglar to jump through a window and out of the garage, police say.
