MT: Gun Effective Against Charging Grizzly

“Their dog ran down and encountered a bear, and then ran back toward the men with the bear on its tail,” according to Fraley. “They yelled at the bear, and then the bear charged one of them.”

Another in the group shot the grizzly with a high-powered rifle, Fraley said. The animal came to rest about 10 feet from one of the other men.

The men returned to their vehicle and reported the incident to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.
