CA: Man Chasing Neighbors with Knife and Hammer Shot in back of head



SCRIPPS RANCH (KUSI) - 10:46 p.m. - A 28-year-old man who was attacking people with a knife and a hammer was shot in the back of the head by a neighbor in Scripps Ranch Thursday, police said.

The suspect had suffered "some sort of mental breakdown,'' San Diego Police Department Sgt. David Jennings said, and was chasing neighbors with a knife and a hammer.

One neighbor armed himself with a handgun and shot the suspect, who was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries, Jennings said.

Like warning shots, sometimes it is absolutely appropriate to shoot someone in the "back". Though I am sure, some will continue to argue neither is "ever" proper and none of it can be "allowed".
