Followup LA: Burglay Suspect Shot, Faces Burglary Charges

A 59-year-old man is expected to face charges after New Orleans police say he was shot in the leg Wednesday morning (June 8) while trying to burglarize a home in the city's Milan neighborhood.

A homeowner in the 4300 block of Lasalle Street returned home around 9 a.m. and discovered his front gate open and a man, identified by police as David Mathis, near his shed. The two fought, police said, at which point the homeowner grabbed a gun and shot Mathis one time in the leg.
