Followup SC: Court of Appeals Reverses Heather Sims' Volunary Manslaughter Conviction
HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — Heather Sims' voluntary manslaughter conviction has been overturned by the S.C. Court of Appeals, according to court documents.
And, according to court documents, she won't be eligible for a retrial on involuntary manslaughter charges because of the Double Jeopardy Clause.
Sims was found guilty in 2015 of voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of her husband, 35-year-old husband, David Sims, Jr., in August 2013.
