ROCKFORD — Gerrod Walker is used to dealing with many four-legged nuisances in his pest control business. Thursday, he showed he can handle the two-legged variety as well.
One of two men who reportedly broke into Walker’s attached residential garage is lucky to be alive after being shot by Walker with a .357-magnum at point-blank range.
Despite the wound, the man was able to escape in a van, drive to a hospital in Rochelle and was later airlifted to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center.
Nathan Brown, 31, of Rockford underwent surgery and was listed in fair condition, Thursday night. Upon his release, he will be arrested on a warrant for burglary.
