HOUSTON -
A southwest Houston homeowner fired at burglary suspects who broke into a neighbor's house Wednesday, police said. Houston police said the shooting happened at 11:15 a.m. in the 11200 block of Leawood. "A neighbor witnessed three males bringing property out of his neighbor's house," Sgt. K. J. Morgan said. "He went back inside, retrieved a pistol, came outside, confronted them. One of them reached toward his waist like he was pulling a gun. The homeowner fired three shots." Witnesses said they saw the wounded man about a block away from the scene. They said he claimed to be an innocent victim. "He was just hollering, 'Help me. Help me. I'm going to die,'" witness Audrey Pavelka said.
