Girl Scouts at Gun Show |
People at gun shows tend to be a standard deviation more responsible than the average American, who tends to outclass the world population in responsibility by a good bit. Those who attend gun shows are very responsible and polite people, more educated than average, more informed about the world, more politically savvy, and with higher ethical standards.
It is hard to separate out the cause from the effect in the gun culture. Are more responsible people attracted to guns, or do guns tend to make people more responsible? It may be a complex feedback loop. Certainly, populations in the United States that have higher levels of gun ownership tend to be better educated, more prosperous, and have much lower crime rates.

I don't know how one would tell that the people at a gun show are more responsible or intelligent. What does stand out, visibly, is that they are fatter. That wasn't the case forty years past. Gun shows then attracted a different crowd. Today, I sometimes walk in and think, Did I accidentally walk into a Jenny Craig event?
So, yeah, good on those Girl Scounts. They know their market.
Cookies and collectables! I would leave with no money!
Every girl in the world should go!
All of society has gained weight in the last 30 years. It is a disease of prosperity. American society has been so incredibly successful at getting people what they want, that food is cheap and plentiful.
People like food with lots of fat and sugar. People do not like to work hard.
Make society so successful that people do not have to work hard, and have easy access to lots of delicious food... and you get overweight people.
One other thing contributes... The baby boomer population is aging. Older people tend to gain weight.
As for telling if people are responsible or intelligent, one observes them. One talks to them.
