TX: Shooting of Robber with Shotgun by Manager with Handgun referred to Grand Jury

The fatal shooting of a robbery suspect at 8900 Jensen about 12:20 p.m. on Monday (August 24) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The male suspect, 20 to 25 years of age, was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The male shooter was not injured in the incident.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Hassig and Officer T. Ferguson reported:

Four black male suspects attempted to rob the Diamond Pawn Shop at the above address. One suspect was armed with a shotgun and pointing it at employees when the manager of the store fired his own gun and struck the suspect. The remaining suspects fled the scene. Two suspects were later taken into custody while the other suspect remains at large.
