CLEARLAKE -- A man reportedly shot an intruder at his home on West 40th Avenue Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities.

Investigators believe that the intruder forced his way into the home and
was shot in self-defense by Charles, Joseph stated. The firearm used in
the incident has been seized by investigators. Charles was released on
scene, pending the outcome of the investigation and the intruder has
not yet been charged.
