National Rifle Association
lawsuits challenging bans on high-capacity gun magazines in San
Francisco and Sunnyvale will be heard in separate courts, a federal
judge ruled Friday, rejecting the cities' request to consolidate them.

cities argued that the suits involved similar issues and that combining
them would save time and expense and avoid conflicting rulings.

of San Francisco said that the cases involved different parties - the
two cities, and two groups of gun owners represented by the NRA - and
that the ordinances had a few differences as well.
