The LaPorte Sheriff's Department says it appears the homeowner shot the
intruder after he broke into the log cabin style home, located in a
heavily wooded area. Police say the middle-aged homeowner fired one
fatal shot at the intruder, described as a male in his 20's.

In regards to the location of the home invasion, police say they are not
familiar with this home or area. The incident is located in an
extremely rural area that police say has not had crime in the past.
