A 73-year-old Oakland Park man stood his ground Wednesday and now a
burglary suspect is in the hospital recovering from several gunshot
wounds, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

After loading up the car, the burglar attacked the woman to get her
phone and that's when the 73-year-old man fired shots at the intruder,
wounding him several times, he said.
"It appears this was a justifiable shooting," Jachles said. "Every
indication is that the homeowner was defending himself, his property and
his neighbor from being attacked by the intruder."
