RALEIGH — A tenant in a student apartment complex in West Raleigh shot and killed an armed intruder early Saturday, police said.

Reed Bellamy, 23, told police the intruder broke into his apartment and
held a handgun to his face. Bellamy was able to retrieve his own
handgun and shot the man, who was identified as Trevor Anders Herne, 35.
