Gun Control Laws Claim Another Innocent Life

I want to tell you the story of Carol Browne. On the outside, she was just an average 39-year old woman. She had a house, a car, and a career. But like so many women around the country, she was also a victim of domestic violence.

She received a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, Michael Eitel. However, she knew that words on a piece of paper weren’t going to stop her abusive ex. So, she also chose to buy a firearm for protection.

Unfortunately, she lived in New Jersey. In New Jersey, it’s not as simple as just going into the store and picking out a gun. Residents need to go to the police and ask for permission to own a gun. Even though the law says the police must provide an approval or disapproval within 30 days, this process can be dragged out as long as six months in some precincts.

On April 21st, she applied for a permit to purchase a handgun. After a month and a half of waiting, Carol Browne went to the police department to ask what the hold-up was. Like always, the police said she would have her permit in a few days.

Unfortunately, Carol Browne didn’t have a few days. On June 3rd, her abusive ex-boyfriend stabbed her to death in her own driveway.

It really is simple: New Jersey denied Carol Browne her right to defend herself and she was killed on her own property because she was defenseless.

Right now, the Leftists are out in force criticizing news outlets like us for using a "tragedy to promote a political agenda."

Seriously? This is coming from the political party that will use literally every shooting tragedy to push for nationwide disarmament.

Our message is simple. If New Jersey was forced to obey the Second Amendment, Carol Browne might still be alive. There’s no way of knowing for sure whether a gun would have saved her life, but she would have had a fighting chance.

This isn’t just a New Jersey problem. All across the country, Liberal states are getting away with infringing on citizens’ constitutional rights. They force citizens to wait in endless lines just to own a gun and then refuse to let them ‘bear arms’ in public.

Some states have seen the error in their ways. Wisconsin is about to do away with its 48-hour on gun purchases. If an individual fears for their life and needs a firearm to protect themselves from a deranged ex-boyfriend or dangerous stalker, a 48-hour waiting period could mean a death sentence.

Other states, however, are making it harder for people to protect themselves and their families. We estimate that more than 48% of Americans live in states that force people to wait to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights. This is unacceptable!

We can stop this. But it is going to take an act of Congress to dismantle decades of unconstitutional patchwork gun laws in this country and that starts with you demanding it!
