Demopoulos ignored Risener’s directions, began strangling the woman and told Risener that he would kill him and burn down the house, according to a case summary prepared by prosecutors.

The woman told investigators that Risener shot Demopoulos while she was being strangled, and that she believed Risener was protecting her and himself, prosecutors said.

Demopoulos disregarded Risener’s order to stop strangling the woman before being shot, prosecutors said.
