Investigators say the incident began when Lewis went to the home of his former girlfriend, who is also the mother of his child. Upon arriving, Lewis discovered that her new boyfriend had arrived at the home shortly before him.
According to police, Lewis allegedly tried to force his way inside the residence by kicking in the front door to search for the other man. During the ensuing confrontation, the new boyfriend reportedly fired several shots, killing Lewis.
