FL:Twin Miami Gun Turn in (buyback) events also Bust on July 27th

Some guns turned in at a Phoenix event

The same day the Racine gun turn in event produced a poor showing, with about 10% of the 77 guns turned in being bought specifically for the event, twin events in the Miami, Florida area also resulted in small numbers being turned in.

This trend continues the tradition of low turn in numbers for the Miami area.

CBSMiami writes that three turn in events in 2012, only yielded "more than 200 guns", a very low number for such a large metropolitan area.

The twin events in the Miami area resulted in 110 guns total being turned in, about evenly divided between the events held in North Miami and South Dade, according to police sources from North Miami and the Miami-Dade departments.

Bad weather may have been a factor for the poor turn outs at the turn ins.

No protesters or private buyers were reported at either event.

As a comparison, about 1,900 guns were turned in at three Phoenix events held in May of this year, with about another 500-600 purchased by private buyers.
