A person who was beaten and shot in the French Quarter early Wednesday morning managed to wrestle the gun away from the attacker, firing back and wounding him, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The victim was near the 200 block of Decatur Street when an armed man approached and opened fire, wounding the victim and dragging "him out of sight of cameras to physically assault him," police said.
During a fight on the ground, police said the victim was able to get hold of the gun and shoot the man.
The shooting was reported to police at 12:37 a.m. The alleged
