Detectives are investigating why a man was shot in the leg in a targeted home invasion in Melbourne's south-east this morning.
Emergency services were called to the home on Cornish Road in Emerald about 4.30am today after three men wearing balaclavas smashed down the 53-year-old's front door.
Detectives were told men forced their way onto the property before one person, described as Caucasian, shot the father in the leg.
