TN: Elderly Man Shoots 2 Breaking into his Home

(WBIR – PETROS) No charges are expected to be filed against an elderly man who shot two people who were trying to break into his home.

Morgan County Chief Deputy Steve Cochran said the shooting happened early Tuesday in the Petros community.

The man's neighbors are supporting his act of self defense.

"I have to say that I would support that he defended himself," Petros librarian Carol Beene said. "Whenever a situation can be diffused by nonviolent means, I think that is better, but I also know that if I were home by myself in the middle of the night and someone came in, I would feel the need to protect myself."
