Petition to White House: Recognize that the government does not "give citizens the right to bear arms."

A new petition has been started to have the White House correct a wrong assumption about the Second Amendment on its website.

The website says: "The Second Amendment gives citizens the right to bear arms."

The petition asks the White House to correct the mistake and to acknowledge the reality of how the Second Amendment was created, and why.

The petition is here.

The reality is the right to keep and bear arms was acknowledged and widely accepted to be in existence long before the Second Amendment.

What the government can grant, the government can take.

The Second Amendment does not grant the right. The Second Amendment protects the existing right.

The petition can be signed at the link. I just signed it, and I suggest you do the same.

The major weapon of those who want us disarmed is their ability to define terms and frame the debate.

This is a way to stop their propaganda about the nature of our government.

They have tried to change the assumptions of the nature of rights.

Accept their assumptions, and we have lost three fourths of the battle.

I have been saying this for decades, Maybe some one has heard me. Inalienable rights are rights from God and He existed long before our constitution. The bill of Rights exists to force the government to protect those inalienable rights. The constitution was written to control the government it created not the people that created the government. Shall Not Be Infringed is an absolute legal command, the right to keep and bear arms is all inclusive Assault weapon The assault weapons are the same weapons used as defensive weapons. The M-16 is a piece of junk forced on the military by people that did not like the killing power of the M-14s. The M-16s were not fully tested. Now they have been improved but many died until those improvements were made. An M-16 bullet is too lite and too fast and is extremely unstable at 400 yards. Put a scope on an M-14 and chose your target at thousands of yards. When I qualified with the M-14 I hit every 500 yard target with open sights. I missed all of the 25 foot targets because my sites were set 3.5 inches high. You want an M-14 to fire full automatic adjust the gas cylinder nut at the end of the gas tube. I prefer an M-1 carbine over an M-16. I like my weapons collection. I like a pistol for targets under 200 yards and have a selection of weapons for when I run out of ammo.
