GA: Whitfield County Car Burglary Suspect shot by Homeowner

On May 3, 2025, at around 5:30 a.m., Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to an entering auto-in-progress call in the area of Pleasant Drive and Old Grade Road. Deputies arrived and spoke with the caller, who advised deputies that several subjects were breaking into his vehicle and attempting to open his back door. The homeowner exited the home firing multiple shots at the subjects.

A round struck one of the female suspects, causing her to be transported by medical personnel. Tristen Knight has been arrested and charged with Felony Entering Auto in relation to this incident, and charges will be pending for the female. The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office will not release the name of the female involved at this time pending her medical treatment. The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office will not pursue charges against the homeowner at this time. This case will be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office pending their review.
