It happened just before 2 a.m. at a home in the 9300 block of South
175 East. The homeowner told dispatchers someone was banging on his
windows and doors, trying to get inside.
Investigators say the man smashed a window and tried to crawl in,
but the homeowner shot him. Deputies found him lying on the porch when
they arrived.
