Authorities said a 20-year-old man got into the front passenger seat of a blue Dodge Dart in the parking lot. After a short altercation in the car, the 20-year-old was seen falling out of the vehicle and running away.
He ran a short distance before he threw a handgun in the direction of a witness and collapsed on the ground. The witness later handed over two firearms to investigators.
The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with a gunshot wound. He is expected to recover from his injuries.
Following the shooting, a 23-year-old turned himself in to law enforcement at the Downtown Detention Center. He claimed he shot the victim in self-defense after the 20-year-old tried to rob him at gunpoint. No charges have been filed against the shooter as of publication.
