The incident happened around 3 a.m. in the 1400 block of East Maddox Avenue, where a victim told police that several males wearing ski masks and armed with guns broke into his house, according to a police news release.
Police said the victim, 30-year-old Cristian Robles, used a gun to defend himself, and the suspects returned fire. Robles then escaped his house through a window and called 911, while the suspects ran away, police said.
Police responded and found a man shot one street north of the original incident. The man who had been shot had called 911 for help, police said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
