HATLEY – A Monroe County resident reportedly took matters into his own hands Monday night when he got home and found someone had broken in. According to Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell, a residence on Parham Store Road a few miles north of Hatley was broken into, and when the homeowner arrived home, the alleged thieves ran out the back door. Cantrell said the homeowner grabbed a gun and shot at them as they ran into the woods.
