Officers said Samantha came to Edgewood Drive on the morning of Oct. 2 after her son had been in a “prolonged” argument with his girlfriend the night before. On his way out, James allegedly saw his girlfriend go into Scott and his wife’s home.
Witnesses interviewed by police alleged that James kicked the door of the residence trying to get in, when Scott shot him, inadvertently also shooting Samantha in the process.
Scott has reportedly not been charged with a criminal offense, but Nicholasville officers said the investigation is still active.
