Among the attendees was a 32-year-old Saginaw man, who had a 9mm handgun with an extended 30-round magazine jutting from his waistband, Pahssen said. Other attendees were perturbed by this, sparking an altercation, Pahssen said.
About 1:20 a.m., 38-year-old Buena Vista resident Qonte L. “Purp” Works grabbed the other man’s gun and began chasing him with it, Pahssen said. The younger man pulled a second, smaller 9mm pistol from his pocket and shot Works multiple times, Pahssen said.
The shooter called 911 to report shooting a man in self-defense. He gave dispatchers his name, requested police and paramedics, and said he would be at the scene when they arrived.
More than 2 minutes into the call, the caller was himself shot eight to 10 times by a male wielding a .40-caliber handgun, Pahssen said. Two sisters, ages 37 and 32, also suffered gunshot wounds. The older woman was shot in her calf, while her younger sister was shot in her abdomen.
