According to witnesses, Kraus violently attacked and assaulted Hanock.
Kraus threw Hancock to the floor, repeatedly punched him and hit him with a picture frame.
Hancock told police that he believed that Kraus was at that point intending to kill him. Hanock, who police say has a concealed firearm license and was carrying a concealed handgun, shot Kraus twice in self-defense during the attack.
Kraus was taken to the hospital, where he later died. His death has been ruled a homicide.
