The Orlando Killer Did NOT Use An AR-15

Would the average journalist know the difference between an AR 15 and a toaster?

A law enforcement source said that the shooting suspect legally purchased recently the two weapons used in the attack at the shooting center in Port St. Lucie near his Fort Pierce home. He had a Glock 17 handgun purchased on June 5, a Sigsauer MCX assault rifle purchased on June 4 on his person during the shootout, and investigators later found a .38-caliber weapon in his vehicle.

I was wondering about the caliper of the assault rifle used. Some of those shot survived multiple close range injuries. I thought .223 delivered devastating injuries.

I'm a big 2nd amendment supporter and concealed carry holder, but that IS an AR-15 is it not? I looked up the gun and it uses a standard AR-15 lower...

To journalists, all semi-automatic rifles are AR-15's, otherwise known as assault weapons, and should be banned.
In reference to the shooting in Orlando, I have wondered 1. Why the bouncers, security guards let him in with the guns and 2. why the exit doors were not available. Fire code requires all exits to be marked and not blocked or locked shut when the building is occupied.
I understand Mateen stood in the only open exit door and began shooting, thus preventing anyone from escaping past him.
If true, the Pulse club has some explaining to do.

At close range a .223 round goes through so fast it is like using an ice pick if it does not hit bone. If it hits bone you have no idea of where it will exit. it is so small and fast it is extremely unstable. It begins to tumble and acts like a buzz saw. A blade of grass will cause it to ricochet. If you wan to see how useless they are shoot tracers at night. at 400 yards they climb out of sight without hitting anything. Personally I think the AR-15/ M-16 is a piece of trash. I carried one for a year in Vietnam. I really wanted my M-14 back. I have never been interested in looking cool, I would much rather know when I pull the trigger at any range the target is going down to stay. I think an M-14 with hollow points would knock the crap out of anything.

An M-16 is an assault rifle, an M- 15 is a sport model. An M16 has a three position selector switch. safe, semi, full auto. An M-15 only has a two position selector switch, safe and semi. How many ammo cans do you want to have to carry to look cool. full auto uses way to much ammo. Use an M-60 if you like carrying ammo.
