Raleigh police decided not to bring charges against the person who shot Byron Bracey, 35, determining that the shooting was an act of self-defense.
Police said the shooter was an employee of the hotel but did not release that person's name because they will not face charges.
Officers were called to the Days Inn on Glenwood Avenue around 10:30 p.m. to investigate a report of trespassing. They said Bracey was trespassing on the property and the employee shot him multiple times. He died later at a hospital.
