The victim told police his friend was about to fight another man. Guns were drawn, but the victim's friend told him to put his gun away because only a fistfight would to occur.
When the victim placed his gun in his truck, the other man pulled out a pistol and started shooting at him and his friend.
The victim was shot four times in the back and once in each leg, records show. According to the police report, he returned fire before being transported to Regional One in critical condition.
