The preliminary investigation finds the man allegedy forced entry into the woman's apartment, who was an acquaintances of his, and assaulted her. He is then accused of stealing her phone and leaving the apartment.
The department says he drove around the parking lot before returning to where the woman was standing outside, reportedly shouting at him to return her phone. This escalates again when police say the man assaulted the woman again.
The woman then used her handgun to shoot the man. He then returned fire, hitting the woman. No one else was injured in this shooting.
